Huron is looking for an adoptive home as he has elbow dysplasia. He currently is a happy go lucky guy and this doesn’t seem to slow him down at all!
Huron is a gentle and laid-back boy who’s ready to find his perfect home. He’s a dog-friendly pup who loves spending time with other dogs, especially puppies, and has been fantastic during puppy playdates. While he hasn’t had much exposure to cats, he would likely want to engage in play with them. Huron is also great with kids and has done well even in a school setting.
At home, Huron is a relaxed companion who loves curling up with his people. He enjoys fetch, outdoor time, and has a special love for sticks, carrying them around and tearing them apart (but never eating them!). While he’s generally calm, Huron does get excited when he sees other dogs on walks. He’s been making great progress working on this with food motivation and creating distance when needed. He wears a Halti in high-distraction areas to manage his strength and enthusiasm. Despite initial reactions, he settles quickly and continues to improve with consistent training.
Huron is crate-trained and has excellent house manners. He waits patiently for his meals, doesn’t counter surf, and can be left uncrated for short periods. He thrives on routine, enjoying long walks in the morning and evening, and a frozen Kong as a treat during mealtime. Huron loves his toys but needs durable ones, as he’s an enthusiastic chewer. If you’re looking for a calm, friendly, and playful companion with a big heart, Huron could be the perfect match for your family.
